Good design gets attention. Good words get enquiries. Most small business websites do not need clever writing. They need clear writing that answers the visitor's questions quickly.
Start with the visitor, not you
Visitors want to know three things: can you solve my problem, can I trust you, and what do I do next. Write to answer those, in that order.
Lead with a clear headline
Your main heading should say what you do and who for, in plain words. "Kitchen fitters in Cork" beats "Excellence in craftsmanship".
Use plain language
Short sentences. Everyday words. If a ten-year-old would struggle with it, rewrite it. Mix in a longer sentence now and then so the rhythm does not feel choppy.
Be specific
Vague claims such as "high quality service" mean nothing. Specifics are believable: how long jobs take, what is included, what areas you cover, what your guarantee says.
Show proof
- Real customer reviews, with permission.
- Photos of actual work.
- Numbers you can stand behind, such as years in business.
- Logos or accreditations that are genuinely yours.
Never invent reviews or claims.
Make the next step obvious
Every page should have one clear call to action: ring us, request a quote, book a visit. Put it near the top and again at the end, with a button that says what happens.
Break it up
Use short paragraphs, clear subheadings and lists. People scan before they read.
Write for search without stuffing
Use the words customers use when they search, in your headings and naturally in the text. Do not repeat a phrase unnaturally. Write for people first.
Check the details
Read it aloud, fix the typos and check every phone number and email. A tired sentence is forgivable. A wrong phone number is not.
Do not write alone if you hate it
Many owners find writing about themselves hard. That is a perfectly good reason to get help. Copywriting is available as an add-on in our cost calculator, or you can get in touch to talk it through.
